As part of a collection project, we were tasked with gathering 55 items that piqued our interest, and subsequently drawing connections between them. In undertaking this project, I chose to explore the themes of Objectification, Idealisation and Fetishization of Women. The two posters presented here represent the Included (left) and Excluded (right) elements of this exploration. The Inclusion Poster showcases the idealization of women, with a particular focus on Indian women. Through annotations, color coding and a key, I have clearly delineated different facets of idealization, including gender roles, physical attributes such as skin-tone and hair, and the effects of social media culture. The Exclusion Poster, on the other hand, highlights the objectification and fetishization of women, with a specific focus on the entertainment, food and advertisement industries. Additionally, I have included a discussion on movements against objectification and sexual abuse.
