The book “You Can’t Make an Omelet Without Breaking Some Eggs First” presents an insightful exploration of cross-cultural aesthetics through the lens of snack food packaging. The book showcases the discoveries of various cultural aesthetics, which arise from the disintegration and extraction of different layers of typography, color, and form from packaging waste collected from individuals belonging to different cultures. The book’s translucency allows viewers to observe the different layers of aesthetics combining with one another, evoking intrigue regarding the translation of aesthetics in cultures and how they interact with one another through mere trash. The book features packages of snack foods from four different cultures, namely Indian, Japanese, Korean, and Latin American, along with little morsels to add flavor and provide readers with a closer look into this translatory world.
