An Odyssey is an ode to the plethora of the multiperspectivity and multiculturality of designers which the School of Art Institute of Chicago commemorates. It is indefinite, nonlinear, and unbounded in its nature. It embraces each designer’s uniqueness and celebrates every milestone along the way. As the name suggests, we encounter an adventurous and venturesome journey with many milestones which facilitates our unique pathway’s direction. The pipeline renders transcend the viewers into this world of odysseys, they function as a metaphor for each student’s unique journey of perspective and the diverse trajectory it follows to transport them to their next destination in life.

The visuals for the publication are an amalgamation of renders created using 3D software and vector based linear illustrations. It is a take on my hybrid practices as a designer, and the essence of the hybrid structure that SAIC functions on. The process of the render’s construction mimics the manner in which each student’s journey transcends.

The spread’s visuals work on the hybrid structure–with renders and vector illustrations making their way in and out of the publication to guide the readers into the various journeys. The lines serve as infographic counts in the beginning spreads faculty, courses spreads thereafter, transcend into each student’s individual self-illustrated journey through the student spreads. There are subtle personal voices across the spreads mimicking the slopes of the lines and celebrating the nonlinearity of the odysseys.
